“Jersey Shore” episode gets record 5.5 million viewers

MTV is happy.

“Jersey Shore,” a show about non-Italians who pretend to be Italian so that they can make fun of Italians, has set a new series record and is now one of the top three cable shows of 2010 among people ages 12-34.

The third episode of season three delivered a rating of 5.3 and brought in 5.5 million total viewers, making it the top overall cable episode watched among that demographic.

And for three weeks in a row, “Jersey Shore” has been Thursdays No. 1 telecast of the day among those 12-34 people.
