
The original film tells the tale of a secretary who runs away to get married after stealing money from her employer, only to get murdered by the owner of a hotel she stays in along the way. The violence in the film was the first of its kind, and shocked viewers.
Now, Sacha Gervasi directs a film chronicling the making of the original, centering on the relationship Hitchcock and his wife, Alma Reville, held, and the struggles behind making a film so controversial. Hitchcock will be played by Anthony Hopkins, and Reville by Helen Mirren.
Johansson’s role as Leigh in the shower scene reportedly took seven days to film.
