
Surprisingly, the 3DS is set to surpass the original DS in terms of first year sales. The original DS console sold 2.37 million units in its first year, the 3DS is currently less than a million units from breaking that mark. With two major game launches and the Christmas holiday coming up, the 3DS seems poised to break that record.
“With a massive lineup of software on the way and the first-year sales record of Nintendo DS in its sights, Nintendo 3DS enters its first holiday season with a full head of steam,” said Nintendo America marketing boss Scott Moffitt.
