ODST and Modern Warfare 2 atop most wanted Xbox 360 list

Data from research group GamePlan reveal Halo 3: ODST as the most wanted Xbox 360 title closely nudging out Modern Warfare 2 in second place.

ODST and Modern Warfare 2 are sequels in famed franchises, but unlike others on the list represent nearly a quarter of all Xbox 360 gamers.‚  Damn that’s impressive.

The next closest, Madden NFL ’10 pulls up third place with only 15% expressing intent on purchasing compared with close to 25% of Microsoft gamers planning an ODST or MW2 purchase.

Most interestingly, MW2’s intent to purchase and pre-order tallies are nearly even in comparison to a much wider discrepancy among future ODST gamers.‚  What does this mean?

Either Halo fans are lazy bums who know ODST won’t be in short supply come fall, or they’re waiting for more juicy details from the secretive Bungie Studios about the title before deciding if the investment is absolutely worth it.

GamePlan pulled their data from 1,000 gamers every week across numerous demographics from March to April 2009.

  3. I think what the discrepancy means is that people know that MW2 is going to be worth the money hands down. While ODST will likely be a great title, it’s not as fresh as the Modern Warfare franchise. MW2 will likely be followed eventually by MW3, and even then it will only be the third game in the franchise. The Halo franchise is going on its 5th game now.

The only thing bad about cod is that it makes all the other games boring to play,cod4 sold more copies then halo 3, so lets get out facts correct here blastmagazine. modern warefare 2 is going to be the most intertaining, most sold, most record breaking game to hit the market, its going to be on the news, all over the tv, you will hear about it on the radio. This is going to be the most well constructed video game ever. Over 10 million copies of cod4 have been sold to xbox and ps3, thats not including pc, and players who havent got a live connection. How many copies do u think modern warfare 2 will sell? More then halo 3?

  7. I am sorry but did you honestly just say that CoD has fresher gameplay than the Halo series? To date, the CoD series has had 8 games, despite the common belief of only 5. Also, all 8 games in the series have been first-person shooters. Here is a list of all games in the CoD series.

    Call of Duty
    Call of Duty 2
    Call of Duty: Finest Hour
    Call of Duty 2: Big Red One
    Call of Duty 3
    Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
    Call of Duty: Roads to Victory
    Call of Duty: World at War

    Now compare that to the Halo series. Which only currently brandishes 4 games with the Halo title. Also, only 3 of those are first-person shooters. The other being a real-time strategy game.

    Halo: Combat Evolved (FPS)
    Halo 2 (FPS)
    Halo 3 (FPS)
    Halo Wars (RTS)

    On top of ALL of that, the Halo series also has three other big things to trump the CoD series. Namely being Custom Games, Forge, and Theater modes. I believe that Halo 3 and CoD4:MW have equally efficient matchmaking systems. Although I can also see how Halo 3 has more game modes. Now, on to the other three points.

    Custom Games: Sure, CoD4:MW has custom games, but it can come nowhere close to Halo 3’s custom games for three simple reasons. The first one is that CoD4:MW does not have an infection gametype. Nothing can compare to that in any way. Camping in a building with a decent team fending off zombies, frantically waiting for the time limit to run out. Nothing compares. Period.
    The second thing is that you can actually get people to play with you in Halo 3’s custom game lobby. I could go on Halo 3 right now, check some friends or recent players up, and jump into an infection game right now. My third point is probably the biggest one: Forge. I’ll go into it in more detail in a moment but there are an infinite number of maps you can play on, versus Cod4:MW’s stale maps that you can play at any time through Matchmaking. My final point is that you can change literally EVERYTHING for your gametype. As with the maps, there are an unlimited amount of possibilities.

    My second point is Forge map. You can make your own maps via a whole dickload of methods. Make an abandoned town for infection, or perhaps two symmetrical castles for Team Slayer. As I have already mentioned, UNLIMITED POSSIBILITIES!

    My third point is Theater Mode. This gives you the opportunity to capture any moment in-game and record it. This mode is the sole reason why Halo 3 has the best machinimas to date. You could combine any combination of GoW2, CoD4, and GTA4 machinimas and combine them. The combined project still would not be half as good as the shittiest Halo 3 machinima. Forge also complements machinima making. Allowing you to setup your stage for whatever scene you are shooting. If you need a police station, you can make it in forge. If you need a barren battlefield, forge is your man.

    I think I have proved my point so let me just leave it at that. And let me also say that I am not a noob in either game and I have been playing each game for a while so I actually know what I am talking about. I am Highest Skill 35 in Halo 3 and 3rd prestige, level 35 in Cod4:MW.

  8. but as you can see noobsareforsheilds the halo seris just has binge that made halo but cod and more then one company working it. as you can see (mw) is its own game in its right so you give it 4 games then we will see if halo is close to match (mw). then if (MW2) MAKES MORE SELLS THEN PLZ TELL EVERYONE YOU WERE WRONG and if halo odst makes more sells then i will say i was wrong but im pretty sure im right! (mw2) as more gamemodes like hardcore and core then halo.(mw2) is alot more real for you and me to see then bs halo. there are more wepons the ranking is way better in (mw) and you can run for god in (mw) like duh why cant you run in halo its so dumb duh!! halo as gone and passed so plz sir get over it !!!

    online thats were the fun is and if you can talk and good at the game and not go to make your own gay map then your not playing the game your doing bs its just to keep you busy and not getting bored i get bored the first 5 mins playing that bs forge!
    and maybe let halo 3 die it will never be the game of the year again!!
    well maybe halo reach but that is a different story for now
