If some is good, more is often better, at least THQ thinks so.
The company, in a conference call today, laid out its plans for 2011 and among the financial mumbo-jumbo, CEO Brian Farrell said a sequel to 2009’s Red Planet third-person-shooter Red Faction: Guerilla will be shown at E3 this June and will release in April, 2011.
“In fiscal 2011, we plan to ship two major core games. Homefront and a sequel to our Red Faction franchise,” Farrell said during the call.
“Homefront, a first-person shooter, made a strong debut at E3 last spring. The game’s compelling storyline, coupled with its ground-breaking multiplayer capabilities, are two reasons we believe this game will become a new hit franchise for THQ.”
“We also plan to launch a high-quality sequel to Red Faction in fiscal 2011. Building on their innovative destruction engine, our team at Volition is delivering a quality sequel in the Red Faction universe that will include robust online gameplay,” he added.
“We look forward to showing you why we’re excited about these games at E3 this June.”
There we have it. A sequel to one of the best-kept secrets of 2009, will be shown at E3. I’ll have my hands all over it. E3 news in February? I like it.
