Licensed games that don’t suck

5. Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay (Xbox, Xbox 360, PS3, PC)

The first Riddick game was exceptional, as it was a brutal stealth game that pushed the genre forward and forced you to think about how you wanted to tackle each room full of guards. The remake of it that recently released on multiple platforms was also a joy, as the game has aged very well and had a new coat of HD paint put on it to spruce things up .

I never owned an original Xbox, but I used to hang out and occasionally work at this LAN gaming center that had a few. One of the positives of being in a place with all of these systems you didn’t own was that you had opportunities to do things like rent the Chronicles of Riddick and play through it on the cheap. Luckily, by that time, we had the use of those Xbox controllers that fit into regular people’s hands, and not just the five or six people in the world who felt that the Dreamcast controller was too small for them. I’m usually awful at stealth games (despite my love for Metal Gear Solid, it takes me twice as long to get through it as everyone I know), but Riddick was worth the effort.
